Music for events – parties and meetings

As already said in the previous post, choosing music for events is not easy at all and it is, for sure, one of the most important step of a correct project planning.

Indeed, we need to make this choice during the planning phase, meaning when the event is just a project on paper.

Choosing the right music for events: party, party and party!

Speaking of parties might be tricky and confusing, since we have a ton of different variety of parties: Versailles, The Great Gatsby, Halloween, just to mention few of them.

The list is long and the only thing that we can do – and i am sorry if i repeat it again – is studying the theme of our party.

Here, some of my suggestions for specific party themes i had to work on :

Halloween: The Addams Family; The Ghostbusters; Thriller (Michael Jackson);

Venice and the Dogi: 2 words only: Rondò Veneziano. Absolutely the best choice!

Versailles….Ok, i need to spend few more words here 😀

Even though in this type of events – historic parties – classic music is highly preferred, I love to “mix and match” contemporary music and history scenes.

Look at Sofia Coppola’s work of art, for example: Marie Antoinette, the movie, combines pop music and history. How can we forget the shopping scene with I want candy as soundtrack?! Simply stunning.

And keep in mind that movies can be a good guide for your parties, especially when you have to choose the music for the event!

Music for events: the meeting

A lot of meeting planners think music reduce the concentration of participants, or more, it makes them nervous.

Personally, I belong to the category of those who think music is a great factor for the success of every single event. Also, classic music has a great relaxing effect and it is widely proven that it helps to concentrate.

Somebody call it Mozart effect, I call it Tchaikovsky (i love his music), but still, i totally agree with this point of view; so, if i have to plan a meeting, i will make sure to include a low volume classical music background.

Choosing the right music for events is not simple and it certainly requires an in-depth study of the project-event, but you know…Organizing events is an art…

…And art always calls other art … In this case, music!
