Masha and the Bear party theme. Marty’s 2nd birthday!

I would say they are definitely part of the family,  so when we had to decide the theme for Marty’s second birthday party, the choice arrived in 1 second: it would have been a Masha and the bear party theme!

Easy, right? …Not all, especially if you live in USA.

This is Walt Disney’s country so it is easier to find Vampirina or Frozen party supplies than Masha and the Bear’s, even though the Russian cartoon by Animaccord is actually translated in 15 languages and distributed in 150 countries.

I know, there are always Amazon and Ebay, but I was definitely running out of time and honestly, all the paper plates and cups I had seen online were very…stereotyped and common.

Cute, but definitely common. Instead, I wanted to create something different so I began studying alternative solutions.

In particular, I concentrated on five elements:

• scenario – backdrop
• colors
• main and secondary characters
• food
• decorative objects

And I repeat again, whether is a birthday party or dinner, or a wedding, an event – big or small – needs to be studied and analyzed under every point of view.

Masha and the bear party theme: the backdrop.

First step was creating the scenario: Masha lives in the forest and unless you have a venue in a forest or a garden, you’ll probably need a backdrop, exactly as I needed.

In this case, Etsy “saved” me.

I bought a vinyl canvas 5ft by 7 of Masha and the bear that was exactly what I was looking for: a huge picture of the two main characters playing in the forest, with Bear’s house in the back.

Bought, shipped and delivered: everything in 3 days only!

Colors

As I said, I didn’t have the chance to order Masha’s party supplies on Amazon, that’s why I decided to opt for the method: I study my theme watching episode after episode and I found the main colors.

Pink, two different shades of green, brown, yellow.

I had the brown already in the backdrop but I was missing the others!

You are probably thinking: so what did you do after studying the colors?

I went to Party City, the best party supplies store in U.S, and i bought plates, forks, napkins and all the party supplies of those specific colors!

Carachters

To be a perfect Masha and the bear party theme, the little Russian girl and her friends needed to be placed everywhere!

Hard paper figurines, ring napkins, personalized bottle labels, straw labels, label cups…Ok, i didn’t have Masha’s plates, but I could have done even better!

How did I do it?

Well, I have to say that Etsy has been a great surprise to me, so I bought a pdf file – for not even 3 dollars – that included other pdf files ready to be printed and cut: labels, happy bday banner, cupcakes sticks…all of Masha and the bear!

If you are planning to do the same, I really suggest you to print everything at Print service store, as i did; they have different types of paper and their card paper was perfect for that purpose.

Tablecloth and decorative objects

Because our party was set in the forest, I needed grass and I solved buying a green grass vinyl tablecloth at Party City.

The vinyl, as other plastic tablecloths, might be nice, but not very easy to place on a table; my suggestion, in fact, is always for a fabric tablecloth to put under a decorative one.

The fabric tablecloth avoid the plastic one to slide as well as everything is on top of it.

About the decorative objects, I placed country fruit baskets with apples and candy-boxes with chocolate carrots, since we know that Masha loves carrots!

Masha and the bear party theme. What do they eat?

When I plan a birthday party for kids, especially if very small, I know in advance it will be an adults (parents) party also, that’s why it is very important to provide a good menu for kids as well as parents.

We decided that the food for the kids would have been the same that Masha and the Bear eat in the cartoon: raspberries, cookies and berries, homemade chocolate rolls, candies, fruit tarts and of course, Russian salad, the authentic one…

For the parents – and for kid too, of course – Brazilian pao de queijo, mini-meat balls, mini-empanadas…Yes, we mixed Russian, Italian, Brazilian, Argentian food…But Hey! We are in Miami 😀

Party favors

One of the most important rules of the event and home decor is to keep objects that we know we can use in the future.

It is the case of my milk bucket. I bought it at Walmart several months ago, as vase for a country-chic floral composition, but I used it as a Christmas decoration too and then it came so useful for my party favors!

1) There is something that everybody – adults and children – love: the helium balloons. They color the environment we are in, they give prospective, they are decorative, probably one of the most common decorative object used by event decorators!

2) I had to get rid of the huge amount of chocolate carrots I had bought (I could have eaten all… 😀 )

And then the idea came up!

I found on Amazon some small Easter fillable carrots and I put the same amount of chocolate carrots in each of those. I tied all the plastic carrots to every single helium yellow balloon i had bought and put them all in the milk bucket.

It was a very nice party favor composition and definitely different than usual.

But I have no picture unfortunately 🙁

What I have, and I want to show you, it is the cake: an amazing, gorgeous and absolutely delicious creation made by Katia, my cake designer…Chantilly cream, chocolate and art. Pure art!

So…

Planning and setting up a party in less than 3 weeks is absolutely possible but it is fundamental to study budget, object and theme. Oh, but this is an event planning topic, so if you want to know more and better follow me in other posts.
